From Lunatics to Mainstream: The Election Denial U-Turn

“Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt” – Mark Twain

Denying election results used to be a one-way ticket to the fringe. A fast track to being labeled a lunatic.

But something changed on Tuesday.

  • Election denialism, once condemned, is now embraced by the left after a stunning Republican victory.
  • The left’s strategy—demonizing voters and focusing on niche issues—backfired spectacularly.
  • New narrative? The election was stolen, and denialism is suddenly mainstream.

For years, the radical left has slapped the “denialist” label on anyone who dared stray from their orthodoxy. Skeptical about man-made global warming? You’re a climate denier. Question the Russiagate narrative? Now you’re a “Russian Collusion Denialist.”

Then came 2020. An election night that seemed to lea Trump’s way suddenly flipped—30 million mail-in votes swung left. What followed? The least popular administration in modern history. Question it? You’re an “election denier.”

Wikipedia even has a page: The Election Denial Movement in the United States. Neutral as ever, it says:

That was the narrative. Until now.

One election later, Trump wins in a landslide. Republicans sweep the board. And suddenly, election denialism is all the rage—on the left.

Democrats are scrambling to explain their worst showing in years. They checked every box:

  • Focused on ideological pet projects, ignoring real issues like inflation and immigration.
  • Insulted half the country—racists, misogynists, “garbage.”
  • Rolled out celebrities to lecture voters.
  • Blamed the opposition for everything, including failed assassination attempts.

And yet, they lost. Big.

So what’s the explanation? In their minds, there’s only one: the election was stolen.

Now election denialism is not just accepted—it’s encouraged. Soon it’ll be standard doctrine, right up there with 55 genders and global boiling.
